Looking For A Great Career In Real Estate?

Rewards & Satisfactions of a Real Estate Career:

When a new career is considered one naturally wants to know, among other things, what satisfaction the job presents.

For the right person, real estate future is bright indeed. There is no commodity so durable as land and no product for which the demand is more assured throughout the years. There are other less tangible rewards in being a real estate person. Not least is the opportunity to put special knowledge to work to help many people.

Real estate is a field of great social importance. The purchase of a house or parcel of land is the largest single investment made by the average person.

Making a wise decision in the choice of a home will affect the buyer’s life in many ways for good or bad. Both buyer and seller are involved in a transaction of bewildering complexity. No other transaction involves so many people: agents, lawyers, mortgage lenders, tax assessors, surveyors, public utilities, - sometimes different levels of government may get into the act.

At the very heart of the transaction stand the real estate brokerage and their sales people. Very few people can cope on their own with the complexities, the risks, the numerous time-consuming details of buying & selling a house, with out the expert, guidance & assistance of a real estate professional.

The Other Side of the Coin:

It is important to have a realistic view of real estate as a career, for it is also a field in which one may easily misjudge the future.

Each year hundreds of individuals expend time, effort and money with a view to entering the real estate field. Unfortunately, many discover either that they cannot complete the required prerequisite courses and examinations, or having done so, they are unsuited to the work.

That is the reason we stress “the right person”.

A successful career in real estate is based on far more than meeting the qualification for registration. The high incomes earned by some real estate sales people are usually the result of carefully developed skills, plenty of plain hard work, long hours and, most often today, advanced education and training.

Who then is a good candidate for this demanding field?

Generally the person, who is independent, well organized, hard working and financially responsible. The individual who is willing to work long hours and enjoys making contacts with the public, even a hostile public, viewing rejection as a challenge, rather than as a personal affront. The person willing to invest time and money in education to improve knowledge and skills in the continuing quest to become more professional.

A career in real estate is not a hobby or pastime. The real estate professional devotes the same hours and personal effort to his calling as does the doctor, nurse, attorney, accountant, or any other dedicated specialist. To do any less would be a disservice to the individual and the industry.

First Step:

If the above description fits you, then, by all means you should be encouraged to pursue a real estate career.

Notice we didn’t mention commission structures?

As you are well aware, Brokerages put a lot of emphases on the commission splits they offer their salespeople and can dazzle you with the many different types of commission structures, which always sound great at the time.

We ask you, what is more important to YOU? … your commission split? Or, your net income?
